Northwest Georgia weather is generally pleasant. The annual average high temperature for Dalton is 71 degrees... with average winter highs in the low 50's and average summer highs in the mid-to-upper 80's. The annual average low temperature for Dalton is 49.2 degrees... with average winter lows in the low 30's and average summer lows in the mid-to-upper 60's. Annual average rainfall is about 56 inches, with March being the wettest month and October the driest. Average annual snowfall is 2.4 inches. The Dalton area averages 212 sunny days each year and experiences precipitation an average of 113 days each year. Dalton sits at an elevation of 747 feet above sea level, though area mountains are much higher.

Community Information
              
Located in Northwest Georgia's "Ridge and Valley" region, history and beautiful scenery provide the backdrop for Whitfield County and the county seat of Dalton. According to the 2010 US Census, 102,599 residents call the county home. Situated along Interstate 75, Whitfield County is just minutes south of Chattanooga, TN and a short drive north of the metropolitan Atlanta area.
          
Founded in 1851, Whitfield County was previously home to the Woodland Indians and later the Creek Indians until the mid-1700's, when the Cherokee took control of the region until displaced by white settlers in the 1800's. The area was also the scene of numerous Civil War skirmishes and battles, including the famous Great Locomotive Chase. Today Dalton is proudly known as the "Carpet Capital of the World"... home to over 150 carpet manufacturing facilities.
               
The area features numerous shopping opportunities, such as Walnut Square Mall and Tanger Factory Outlets. First class medical care can be found at the medical campus surrounding Hamilton Medical Center. Prater's Mill, the Chief Vann House, Fort Mountain State Park, and the Chickamauga National Battlefield Park are just a few of the numerous historical and recreational attractions in our area.
