Located in Northwest Georgia's "Ridge and Valley" region, history and beautiful scenery provide the backdrop for Whitfield County and the county seat of Dalton. According to the 2010 US Census, 102,599 residents call the county home. Situated along Interstate 75, Whitfield County is just minutes south of Chattanooga, TN and a short drive north of the metropolitan Atlanta area.
Founded in 1851, Whitfield County was previously home to the Woodland Indians and later the Creek Indians until the mid-1700's, when the Cherokee took control of the region until displaced by white settlers in the 1800's. The area was also the scene of numerous Civil War skirmishes and battles, including the famous Great Locomotive Chase. Today Dalton is proudly known as the "Carpet Capital of the World"... home to over 150 carpet manufacturing facilities.
The area features numerous shopping opportunities, such as Walnut Square Mall and Tanger Factory Outlets. First class medical care can be found at the medical campus surrounding Hamilton Medical Center. Prater's Mill, the Chief Vann House, Fort Mountain State Park, and the Chickamauga National Battlefield Park are just a few of the numerous historical and recreational attractions in our area.
